The Cheongju Sangdang Police Station announced on October 1 that it has arrested a teenager, identified as A, on charges of stabbing a woman on her way home and attempting to sexually assault her.
A is suspected of stabbing a woman in her 20s, identified as B, who was a complete stranger to him, with a weapon on a street in Seowon-gu, Cheongju, at around 11:30 PM on September 27, and then attempting to sexually assault her.
When B resisted, A fled the scene on a motorcycle and was apprehended by the police at a nearby convenience store about three hours later.
B was taken to a hospital for treatment, and her life is reportedly not in danger.
During police questioning, A reportedly claimed that while he did wield the weapon due to stress, he had no intention of committing sexual assault.
